From the 1940s to the 1970s, Singapore was home to over 20 active dragon kilns, but today only two remain, now known as Jalan Bahar Clay Studios—though they no longer fire. These once-vibrant kilns were referred to as the sleeping dragon by the ingenious ancient Chinese.

I reimagined the dragon kiln as a native creature, deeply entwined with the history of Jurong’s mangrove-lined rivers and crocodile-infested swamps. Hidden within the dense vegetation and murky waters, this mythical beast slumbers, a relic of the land's rich cultural and ecological past.
